FICAP announces new charity partner

17/11/2017

The Financial Industry Community Aid Program (FICAP) has announced Learning Links as its newest charity partner.

The 11th charity to be supported by FICAP since 2006, Learning Links was established by parents concerned about the lack of appropriate education and support services to meet the needs of children with learning difficulties.

Learning Links chief executive Birgitte Maibom said the organisation is thrilled to be selected as one of the FICAP charities.

“The funding support of FICAP will greatly assist Learning Links to deliver vital services to families and children, especially those who are disadvantaged,” Maibom said.

“We are grateful for this opportunity. FICAP is just as committed to our vision to support a future where learning difficulties are no longer a barrier for any child. Where every child has the right to equal learning opportunities.”

Learning Links joins Raise and The Mirabel Foundation and as FICAP’s 2018 charities. FICAP’s annual end-of-year function allows charities to showcase their work to leading financial services industry figures and about 60 attended last night’s function.

FICAP director Marnie McLaren said: “As well as welcoming Learning Links to the FICAP family, this event is a great opportunity for our charities to share with us the remarkable work that the financial services industry is helping to fund.”

“We believe it’s critical for our sponsors to see the positive impact that FICAP’s investment in our charities is having. Every dollar we bring in helps in raising a brighter future for Aussie kids,” McLaren said.

The FICAP Committee also announced Thursday, 22 March as the much anticipated date for RockStar 2018. The 2017 event raised more than $200,000.

FICAP chairman Chris Larsen said: “We couldn’t be more excited about RockStar 2018. We’ll be back at The Ivy and looking to have an unforgettable night.”

“Our charities do an incredible job in our communities and we’re looking forward to raising even more money to support them,” Larsen said.
