FICAP gives support to The Shepherd Centre charity

16/01/2015

The Financial Industry Community Aid Program (FICAP) has brought The Shepherd Centre on board as its newest charity partner.
The Shepherd Centre joins Redkite and Weave Youth & Community Services as FICAP’s chosen charities in 2015.
Since 1970, The Shepherd Centre has assisted close to 2,000 children who are deaf or hearing impaired to improve their quality of life. The organisation is recognised as a world leader in their field, providing families with assistance to develop their child’s spoken language so they can reach their full potential.
FICAP received a record number of nominations from charities this year. Chris Larsen, FICAP’s chairman for 2015 said, “It’s never an easy task to choose between so many worthy causes but we were incredibly impressed with the work The Shepherd Centre is doing with deaf and hearing impaired children.”
“It costs approximately $18,000 a year to provide each child with the essential therapy they need to learn to listen and speak, the vast majority of which The Shepherd Centre must cover through fundraising.”
The Shepherd Centre’s chief executive, Jim Hungerford, said the organisation was delighted to be partnering with FICAP until 2017.
