ANZ Wealth’s Jamie Thomas crowned FICAP 2012 RockStar

Sydney, 22 March, 2012 – In an amazing display of generosity, the financial services community yet again pulled together to raise more than $130,000 for the YWCA NSW “FICAP Voices” mentoring program and Open Family Australia at the 2012 Who wants to be a RockStar event. In an equally amazing display, ANZ Wealth’s Jamie Thomas took out the RockStar 2012 title in a rocking performance of U2’s Vertigo.

Other winners on the night were Chris Brookman from Macquarie who took out the gong for BT Financial Group People’s Choice Award, the Colonial First State Entertainment Award went to Geramae Godilano & Garreth Innes from Aberdeen, Chris Mekhail from Count took out the Perpetual Best Newcomer Award and RNC Global Projects Best Female Artist went to Sophie Koo from Zurich.

Marnie McLaren, FICAP Chairperson said, “What a fantastic night! We worked to take RockStar to a whole new level in 2012 and with the help of our sponsors and wannabe RockStars, we certainly did that so thank you. The venue was about as Rock ‘n’ Roll as you can get and the FICAP committee was astounded at just how talented (and brave) all of our fabulous singers were.”

Sophie Koo kicked off the night, followed by ‘Lazy’ Luke Lynch, representing Perpetual and then ‘Lonely Boy’ Ray Trevisan from RNC Global. Challenger’s Andrew Symes then rocked it out leaving Macquarie’s Chris Bookman to finish off the first set with a crowd pleaser.
Coming off the break was ANZ’s Jamie Thomas who took the crowd to new heights followed by the ‘fun loving’ BT Financial couple Chris & Jess Mather performing with Ange Serhan.

Aberdeen’s Garreth and Geramae shared their funky little shack and next up was RARE Infrastructure’s representative Bomo Piri ‘standing by’. Count’s Chris Mekhall closed the show with a ‘firey’ performance.

The 2012 “Who wants to be a RockStar?’ attracted a record crowd of more than 500 finance professionals and was well supported by the industry.

Marnie McLaren, added, “We’d like to say a big thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters, without whom RockStar 2012 wouldn’t be the success it was.”

This year’s platinum sponsors were ANZ Wealth, BT Financial Group, Colonial First State, Perpetual and RNC Global Projects.
